3 Beginner Hula Hoop Moves to Build From

3 Beginner Hula Hoop Moves to Build From

Well, hello there you fabulous new hooper you. That hoop looks good on you! Welcome to the circle, my friend. Let me help you rock it out even more. If you got waist hooping down and you’re looking to progress your hula hoop skills on the fly, here are your core three basic moves. Of course, for every hooper, the process is different, but I think these will start you off spectacularly! Get these sweet moves down, and you’ll unlock a treasure chest of other moves to stem off the basics, promise!   The Vortex Yes, it’s as cool as it sounds. This move is such an integral part of hooping, and it’s super pretty. This is the first move I learned, and it’s the first thing I teach those who want to learn to hoop. Vortex A video posted by Nina – Hooper And Expolorer (@that_hooplife) on Oct 9, 2015 at 10:14am PDT KEY: Spin. I can’t stress this enough. Spinning is the key to nailing this trick instead of nailing your ear (which really hurts, by the way). Don’t forget to spin until completion.   Isolation Let’s start off with just the basic isolation. There’s a slew of others to follow! Mix this up with the vortex so you’re not just studying one thing. Isolations are a wicked illusion where it looks like the hoop doesn’t move, but you do. Basic isolation A video posted by Nina – Hooper And Expolorer (@that_hooplife) on Oct 9, 2015 at 10:12am PDT KEY: Mirror. Doing this trick in the mirror will work wonders for you. You need to get it... read more

Do you wanna play a hoop game? 4 Facebook groups that you’ll enjoy!

Do you wanna play a hoop game? 4 Facebook groups that you’ll enjoy!

Do you want to play a game? Change up your hoop style? Maybe try some new music or a new combo?  There are a few places you can go to get your fun flow on with some awesome games!!!    1. The Hooping Game- The group can be found here The hooping game is a lot of fun! The premise of the game being that you have to hoop to music you normally wouldn’t choose for yourself. To start a round of the game, simply make a post in the Facebook group that says “I’m in”!! From there someone will comment a song that you have to hoop to!! You have 48 hours to do so. Once you complete your challenge and post a video you get to “hit back” the person who challenged you. You choose a song for them and again they must hoop to the song within 48 hours! Be careful not to challenge too many people at once though. Depending when people respond you might find yourself making quite a few videos all at once. 2. The Flow Game- The group can be found here  If you like the idea of the hooping game but your not a hooper, this game is for you. Although you can participate with your hoop, the flow game is open to all prop spinning. The rules are still the same if you want to play, but not you get to choose what prop you use while jamming to some random songs chosen by your peers!! 3. Same Song Different Flow- This can be played in the Flow Spinistries group... read more
Autumn Hoop Dance Meditation in Movement by Alycia Betts

Autumn Hoop Dance Meditation in Movement by Alycia Betts

Alycia’s words about this video: “Are you on the path to self discovery, or are you struggling to find your way? A good place to start would be asking yourself “What are you passionate about?” A question was asked to me a few years ago, “What is your favourite sense?” When I replied, my answer felt forced, it was “sight”. Sight is not my favourite sense, my vision is actually pretty horrible. Touch, is what I wanted to say. It just didn’t seem like an answer I was ready to explain, really I just didn’t know myself, and why I felt that way. Feeling, from emotion, to physically feeling something or someone is such a powerful sense, our eyes can fool us, but the way we feel is no joker. This circle, I don’t need to see it. Every movement is felt, the energy is felt, I understand the way it moves, I knock it off course sometimes as life knocks us off course, but I understand things happen, laugh and keep spinning. This circle has taught me so much, and continues to give me all the space to allow me to grow. When I didn’t fully understand that I had gotten too comfortable with being locked up, this circle saved me from anxiety’s cage. It has sparked up passion and creativity inside of me, taught me to daydream. This circle is my mentor. It is a reflection of myself and the world around me, and when I grow with the hoop, I grow as a person, I connect with myself even deeper, Hooping is my meditation. I want... read more
