This simple partner hoop move is initially done with two hoops and involves interlacing your arm with your partner’s. Then the video shows some variations including how to do it in various ways with four hoops.
Yes, I know this doesn’t have anything to do with hooping, but it is so lovely and made me so happy.
Enjoy!
Who says you need to keep the hoop around your waist to call it hula hooping?
I love this video because it shows a little more of what can be done with a hoop. I find this video inspiring as I feel that the artist is playing with so much passion and emotion that comes through her hoop.
In this video you will use twin hoops. Get one going around your waist and then with the second hoop laying at your feet, get your foot underneath it and kick it up to yourself. You need to be able to do the kick up with one hoop before attempting this more difficult trick.
Have fun!
In this hula hooping tutorial you will learn how to keep the hoop moving around your waist and keep it from falling down. With everything, practice practice practice and you will find your flow. Stick with it. Hooping is amazing!
You don’t want to pull a muscle when you hoop and be out for days. Just like any exercise, you want to warm up before you get physical. Hooping is no different. In this tutorial you will learn some basic stretches you can do to get your body loose and limber and ready to hoop.
In this tutorial you will learn what size hula hoop is a good fit for you and what type of clothes work well for hooping. Essential things to know before you start hooping.
Learn to hula hoop in this video tutorial. This video takes you from the very beginning assuming that you have never ever hooped in your life. Grab a hoop and have fun!
This hoop trick sure has a silly name, but I have admit, I do like it. Looks like the first thing you need to do is learn to break and change directions with your hoop. Once your good at changing directions, now do it continuously back and forth. Now start walking with your hoop and keep changing directions.
Here’s some pretty tight choreography from Brecken and Tiana hooping on stage in Mexico city.
Tight, quick, on que breaks and transitions. This is a pretty sick hoop video.
Track: Halp- Leek (Doshy Remix).
Nick Broyd showing off some mad hoop skills underneath a bridge.
In case you haven’t yet seen this, you should. It’s bad ass and makes me want a professional video production unit.
Yeah!

I came across this fantastic tutorial over on isopop.com today, teaching you how to make a high quality clear plastic hula hoop. Rich’s posts are always high quality and he takes the time to explain things well. It talks about the types of tubing out there and where to get them. Head on over to http://isopop.com/2010/02/22/how-to-make-high-performance-white-plastic-hoops/
Wow, It’s hard to believe that the last time I posted was back in June of 2010. Sorry for the BIG gap in postings. I am working right now to bring you more great hoop tricks on a regular basis….stay tuned, there’s hope yet!
My friend Rich from Isopop sent me this video today on the state of Flow. It’s a good video, definitely worth the watch. I have been getting ready for the NW Hoop Gathering coming soon to Bend and flow has been in my mind a bunch. I stopped hooping for most of the winter, but I have been back in it for the last 3 weeks and honestly I can’t figure out why I ever stopped. That feeling I get when I am hooping and hooping hard is so wonderful, so meditative, so inspiring, that I wonder, “why don’t I do this everyday?”. Now I am hooping everyday.
Here’s an old one for you from Philo, showing us how to do a horizontal elbow roll with a head duck out.
Learn how to POP a small, light Hoop, up, off your shoulder after having been Hooping around your neck, and your shoulder. You should already know how to spin a Hoop around your neck and then duck in with your shoulder. Straighten out your arm (whatever shoulder you ducked in with, use THAT arm, straightened out) and grasp your Hoop with your hand, it looks like she’s holding it lightly with her fingers, then she bends the Hoop, by squeezing it, and then letting it go, POP into the air!
In this video she is starting the trick Hooping with her Left hand above her head in a clock-wise direction. Make sure your Hoop is in a flat plane as it is spinning over your head. You will be using your RIGHT hand to “catch” the Hoop as it comes around your back. Your RIGHT hand should be to your side, just at your waist. As you begin the trick, lower your Hula Hoop and aim it to go Behind your Back. You’ll feel your elbow sicking out, that is where it’s supposed to be. Now your Hoop is (or should be) behind your back; you will then gently toss your Hoop from your LEFT to your RIGHT hand, keeping your Right hand by your waist is helpful. Just remember that your Left hand should come around your back as much as possible to be able to “deliver” the Hoop to your Right hand. Once you pass it you can spin the Hoop out in front of you, like in the video. Or put the Hoop back on your body and raise it up over your head and begin the trick again.
